The inspiration behind the establishment
of the Center for Healthcare Professions (CHP) comes
from the belief that the start of the new millennium
may well be known as the "Age of the Healthcare
Provider" in that the demand for healthcare workers
is seen to grow tremendously for the next few decades.
The founder, Dr. Carlo S. Ynion, envisioned a human
resource organization that would attend to the needs
of healthcare professionals thereby enabling them to
pursue productive careers. Together with his loving
wife, Dr. Caroline C. Ynion, supportive father-in-law,
Dr. Cenon R. Cruz, and some close family and friends,
the Center for Healthcare Professions, Inc. was born.
Profound
changes have started to occur all over the world, as
the elderly are becoming a major part of the population.
The prolonged life expectancy and the changing lifestyles
and role of women in society have resulted in a distinctly
increasing demand for caregivers and other healthcare
workers. Canada, with its Live-In Caregiver Program,
is the first country to have specifically laid out requirements
for those who want to work as caregivers. It is expected
however, that many industrialized countries like the
United States and those in Europe and Asia, would subsequently
develop their own distinct pathways that would pave
the entry of foreign caregivers.

| Vision |
To be the leading human resource service
and development center of healthcare trainees, professionals
and customers, under the guidance of the Divine Providence
that molds human values contributing to a more compassionate
society, more positive environment and better quality
of life
|
| Mission |
The Center for Healthcare Professions,
through results-oriented leadership, shall provide the
best value to healthcare trainees, professionals and customers
and pursue overall excellence in offering healthcare courses,
programs and services; and in developing effective methodologies
thereby producing competent and productive citizens.
|
| Philosophy |
We believe in the Divine Providence because
through Him all good things come.
We believe in the fundamental right of man to lead a life
of happiness, fulfillment and prosperity.
We
believe in foundational values such as vision, positive
attitude, passion, fairness, integrity, hard work and
determination. We believe that actualization of these
values result in true success.
We
believe that in order to be on the leading edge of service
and development, we must be innovative, effective and
efficient, responsive and proactive in our daily activities.
We
believe in the power of information and knowledge and
more so in its application and practice.
We
believe in the resultant concepts of output, competence
and dynamism.
We
believe in the pursuit of excellence through continuous
improvement, speed and simplicity of action.

| Current
Thrusts |
Realizing its competitive edge in management,
healthcare expertise and strong determination for excellence,
the Center for Healthcare Professions is expanding its
reach nationwide. As of February 2005, it already has
nineteen (19) operating branches from Dagupan City in
Pangasinan in the north to Butuan City in Agusan del Norte
in the south.
As
this is going on, the Center for Healthcare Professions
is working towards building strategic alliances with
both local and foreign companies. Through its Work
Assistance Program, CHP has recently finalized an
agreement with a local agency that facilitates caregiver
immigrants to the United States. This agency gives Preferred
Status to CHP students over applicants from other
schools who decide to apply. CHP is also currently in
talks with other agencies that could pave the way for
employment in Canada and Japan.

| Future
Plans |
|
Because of the expertise and strategic
involvement of the people behind the Center for Healthcare
Professions, particularly in the medical and paramedical
fields, it is not difficult for the organization to
conceptualize a certain program or address a particular
healthcare professional need. It sees itself as a major
participant in creating the standards of professionalism
among the many as well as the emerging fields of healthcare.
In fact, Nursing Aide and Practical Nursing
courses starting June of 2005 as a response to the
opportunities open to these professionals in the United
States. The possibility of putting up degree programs
in Nursing is not remote. Other courses that are
being lined up for possible introduction include:
1.
Caregiver Course for Japanese Elderly
2. Medical Transcription
3. Alternative Medicine courses like Massage Therapy
and Reflexology
|
| The
Caregiver Training Program |
| CHP
started its operations by offering a six-month full-time
training course for caregivers (home health aides).
This training program conforms to the standards set by
the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority
(TESDA), which is the Philippines' governing body for
technical and vocational institutions. The caregiver training
program has been patterned after caregiver curricula particularly
in Canada and the United States. |
| Other
Courses and Programs |
| CHP
has developed other related courses. Similarly, these
courses have been designed to address international healthcare
worker trends and demands, aware that at the very least,
certain standards of quality have to be maintained. These
courses include:
1.
Geriatric Nursing Assistant Training Program
2. Caretaker Course
3. Basic Emergency Care
As
an education and training institution, CHP has the capability
to conduct review classes for nurses who want
to take foreign licensure exams as well as review
classes for English proficiency exams like IELTS,
TOEFL and TSE. With a pool of expert instructors,
it is also capable of conducting Japanese language
classes designed for all levels of the Japanese
Language Proficiency Test.
